Common questions
Fast answers to the questions users ask most often when Brik feels unfamiliar.
Purpose
This page answers the questions that usually come up once you start using Brik for real.
When to use it
Use this page when:
- you want a fast answer without reading the full guide
- Brik does something unfamiliar and you want to know why
- you need language for explaining Brik to someone else
Step-by-step flow
- Start with the question that matches what you are seeing right now.
- Try the recommended action immediately in the app.
- If you need more detail, jump to the linked guide for that surface.
Why does Brik ask for a check-in?
Brik uses your current energy and focus to make a better recommendation in Today. If your last state is stale, the app may show Check-in before execution so it can stop guessing.
Why are some tasks blocked?
Blocked right now means Brik sees unfinished prerequisite work. It keeps those tasks visible so you do not forget them, but it does not let you choose them yet.
What is a thinking task?
A thinking task is work that needs clarification before execution. Brik gives you a focus block, then uses your notes from Thinking session complete to generate action tasks.
What happens if I skip a task?
Brik records the reason you skipped it. That signal helps it understand whether the problem was timing, difficulty, boredom, anxiety, or missing clarity.
Why did Brik suggest something from Wishlist?
If the active queue is empty, Brik can surface Wishful thinking as a fallback so you still have a path into useful movement instead of hitting a dead end.
What if I captured a messy or wrong input?
That is what the Approval queue is for. Use Approve when Brik got it mostly right, and Reject when it did not belong in the queue yet.
What Brik is doing in the background
Brik is always trying to reduce the number of hard choices you need to make at once. The strange-looking behaviors usually come from that goal: use fresher state, avoid blocked work, learn from skips, and keep you moving even when the queue is thin.
Common gotchas and reassurance
- A strange recommendation usually means the system needs fresher signal, not that you used it wrong.
- Brik is allowed to be imperfect and still useful. Treat it like guidance, not prophecy.
- If you want more depth on a specific surface, go back to Capture thoughts, Use the Today loop, or Plan and daily intention.
