When Brik feels wrong
Troubleshoot the moments when the app feels off, stale, or harder than it should.
Purpose
This page is for the moments when Brik does not feel helpful enough yet. The goal is not to force the app. The goal is to find the smallest correction that makes the next step usable again.
When to use it
Use this page when:
- the recommendation feels off
- everything feels too hard
- the queue is empty
- you keep skipping the same kind of task
- you are unsure whether something belongs in Goals, Tracks, or Wishlist
Step-by-step flow
- If recommendations feel off, go to Today, refresh your energy and focus, and check whether the Active track is narrowing the field too much.
- If everything feels too hard, go to Capture and dump what is still rattling around in your head. Then return to Today and choose the lowest-friction option, not the most important-looking one.
- If the queue is empty, check whether Brik surfaced Wishful thinking. If yes, decide whether to promote that idea. If not, add fresh input through Capture.
- If you keep skipping the same type of task, open Review and look for the repeated skip pattern. Then decide whether the fix is:
- clearer next steps
- a different track
- a smaller task
- a thinking session before execution
- If you are confused about where something belongs:
- use Goals for direction
- use Tracks for focus lanes
- use Wishlist for ideas that matter but should not pressure you today
What Brik is doing in the background
When Brik feels wrong, it is usually missing one of three things: fresh state, a clean enough queue, or the right focus boundary. Most fixes come from giving the system better signal, not from trying harder inside a stale setup.
Common gotchas and reassurance
- Do not assume a bad recommendation means the whole system is broken.
- If everything feels too hard, the answer is usually less complexity, not more control.
- If you keep editing the plan but never starting, return to Today and finish one short block before reorganizing again.
- You do not need to solve the whole week to get unstuck today.
